I Opened My Stanford Admissions File…

hey guys welcome back to my channel before we get into today’s video I just want to mention that this video is sponsored by any success comm which is a really awesome website that I honestly wish I knew about whenever I was applying to schools or even like after I got into Stanford uni success.com is a university admissions platform to help high school students during the college application process and the transition to college you know success can connect you with current college students at top schools whether you want advice or information about college abs or just want to know more about life in a particular school these questions can be about anything from essays and standardized stands to dining halls and clubs on campus you get to hear about the college application process and about the schools you are interested in from someone who actually went through the process themselves you’re getting real information and real advice from real students just like you they’re running a free trial right now for new signups. definitely check out their link in my description if you’re interested okay. as you can see by his video title I don’t know why being. hard okay it’s kind of really cool. if you guys don’t know kathan college if you guys used to watch her like posting a blog about how Stanford like some students really protesting about what I wanted to see their admissions file. basically I think it like it was like an act or something was passed or you can request to see here admissions file for 20 minutes. I did that and you go in there for 20 minutes you’re not I’ll take pictures or videos or anything do you just be with your 5 20 minutes and write down everything that they said unfortunately some stuff is redacted like blacked out which I don’t really know why kind of sketchy. I like wrote down everything that I could write down in the 20 minute time slot in my file. we are going to see why I got into Stanford okay. you have at least two readers whenever you’re playing Stanford and. basically they give you numbers for like each category and I think we’ll find what everyone is saying we’re pretty sure they’re like one is the best and then two and then three and I’m pretty sure it goes to 5. reader one gave me a 2 in test figure a three and a HSR a 2 in support of one in extracurriculars a 3 in SP IV the IVs intellectual vitality and a 2 plus overall and my second reader actually gave me the exact same scores. the majority of my friends got like mostly twos and my friends who also looked at their file got like a 2 or 2 plus overall. like all of us were admitted obviously and then reader 1 ant and reader to put admit. whenever after your readers read you they can either put you in the admit pile the like maybe pile with deferral pile or the reject pile. if you’re put into the reject pile you’ll still get a second reader they’ll read you out of that pile. you’re pulled out of the reject pile then you have a third reader who would decide like what happened after that but both of my for me in the admin pile. that was cool. my reader one like run a little paragraph and said strong academics both in and out of school through the UT Southwestern stars program research in neuroscience push from school and from research mentor. I’m assuming those men my records are pretty good and then this says FA our f1 with push from Stanford University evaluator. I’m guessing that FA our F is like my art supplement and one is like that it’s like a good score kind of like the other like category scores were and then push from the evaluator I’m assuming meant that I had like a good push from the dance department or whoever graduated my Art’s a little bit warm SP IV which is intellectual vitality and contacts all align and then some stuff was redacted but then it said FA our f1 see full comment which was read active original innovative self-directed qualities we are looking for at Stanford. I didn’t get to see the original comment which I’m assuming is from the evaluator from the dance department that was blacked out and had a sorting out my parents said M from mom’s social worker and BA at Stanford and BA University of Dallas and then my dad had only said where he got his master’s from and then it said like my brother was in high school and then read once at ECU which extracurriculars dance ensembles president not National Honor Society Secretariat interact club class council other on societies a bit to the list which was interesting this also says break12 EG south western stars research i don’t know what break12 means then she wrote personal essay fighting stereotypes which is like just like a one line I brought what mine is then it says SPI be socially aware self reflective funny and creative in sexual vitality and personal essay and vitality on research okay now to my second readers. second reader they read with the first reader wrote and they also put combination of dance talent parentheses FA our f1 with University level research experience. kind of the themes here I marketed myself to Stanford with my two main things being like research like being involved in stem and like dance. the emphasizes a lot. it’s great this says academic strong essay writing is simple but convincing which is funny cuz like I don’t think my essays are like that elaborate I think they’re pretty like Franken to the point they also said agree with reader one reader three I thought like the committee prep. you have two readers at least and then like kind of like if you pass those rounds you like move on to the committee there wasn’t anything here I don’t know if Elvis rejected it or not but it just said hold hold type one. I don’t know what that means.

I know people in California don’t get any research Stanford but I got an interview for Stanford in Texas and I got to read everything my interview Road rallyin which is pretty cool. they have three categories in sexual vitality death and commitment and character and self presentation and I got twos and all the categories I’m assuming it’s similar to the first thing I talked about the scores one through five also could be 1 through 3 I honestly don’t know but since I got in I’m assuming that like a 1 to 3 if I got the upper ends my interviewer said Jasmine has shown strong interest and determination to pursue an engineering career she has taken an intern work at eg Southwestern Medical Center to do experiments in the area of neuroscience coming from a family with strong engineering background I think she is really motivated to study engineering and to try and make the world a better place. pretty standard both my parents had batteries in electrical engineering and I kind of talked about that a little bit about like why was like actually interested in it. that’s kind of when you put that he also wrote she’s also a dancer since childhood she transferred from an art centric school to her current high school. she can get a better academic environment maintaining her dance training that is incorrect. I thought I was pretty clear about it but he could have like misinterpret what I said I actually transferred from like a better academic school to my art centric school. my art school was take a little bit not as great academically but I had the art aspect. I wanted to pursue both instead of just having to pursue one but he kind of got it flipped a little bit but I was fine he also said it was a hard time for her to make the transition eyes school level but she had made it through and made herself blend into a new environment. that part’s true I think I talked about that in my interview besides computational dancing she has also danced for the general audience I thought was a weird way to put it because I put that I had done like pre-professional style dance like more like pre-concert kind of stuff at my school but then I also like dance at high schools and stuff but it was just a weird way of wording it and then he said and she really felt happy when she saw the joy she brought to these people because I talked about an experience but I like went to this high school and like that was my favorite Park that ever did even though it wasn’t in front of like anyone important necessarily because like the feeling of being from the audience is a lot of energy and really fun and then lastly he said she’s very confident and really outgoing from time to time I could feel her enthusiasm and that could make her be successful in her new adventure sounds pretty cool. I mean basically here at one paragraph about my like stem interest one paragraph on my dance interest and like a short paragraph about my personality since you got to meet me and like the nurse’s office doesn’t get to meet you. as you guys can see the way I like package myself as like a stem person and like a dancer was definitely seen in the admissions officers as well on my interviews it was like clear who I would be on campus like how I marketing myself that definitely came across which I think was why my application was successful to Stanford then there’s just last page it’s like a little bit more confusing. they put tags down. one is div with I’m assuming means diversity one is FA and one is Elle and I honestly don’t know if those mean there’s also something for a Stanford University affiliation. it says MU weed I’m assuming means whether undergraduate and then they also put like tags for your ethnicity. I got to to I to see and for PE. I’m pretty sure to is like Asian and then to I I’m quarter if you know and. I think that might mean like indigenous and then see is Chinese and then I got for P which is I’m assuming Hispanic and then Puerto Ricans also some other stuff like some like weird tags I don’t really understand the last thing is rigor and then MD I know in Catholic colleges she said that MD meant that your schools like most demanding but it doesn’t really make sense I don’t know if that’s necessarily like what that means because I don’t consider them the school that I went to that demanding especially in the grand scope of like schools the Stanford kids come from like I didn’t go to a private high school and it’s like a regular like public magnet school like it wasn’t like as demanding is some like really competitive private school. either maybe that tag like may mean something different like I don’t really know what about that part and that’s a lot of sweet in I thought that was getting more exciting it’s kind of hard because I didn’t write like that specific of things and personally when like reading that stuff it’s not like wow this person’s like amazing like blah blah. I don’t know some people have like like better like stuff said about them but also – didn’t about mods.

I kind of suspect there was more redacted than they gave to me because one of my friends told me that she had entire pages that were redacted but also like they could have just given me pages and like left out the ones are redacted because it’s kind of pointless to me. I don’t really know but it was still interesting to kind of see what they said about you kind of like how your application look in their eyes and like the things just should not send they don’t write down a lot of stuff the things to fill out the most of them we’re like not my like clubs I was in in high school and it really writes out monitor my grades stuff like that which kind of emphasizes that those things while they are important in the grand scheme of things and how it’s gonna like make you stand out they’re not really as important I hope you guys enjoyed today’s video if you guys come to Stanford definitely look at your emissions file I definitely recommend it it’s really interesting and do it when you’re a freshman because the more time goes on the more stuff that will be redacted from the application file it would be is are having an awesome day don’t forget to check out uni success in my description bar don’t forget they like doing a free trial for like new signups right now it’s a really great way to connect with students and go to top schools that you might be interested in. definitely check them out below and I will see you guys next time bye
